This year I have found quite a few producers that I hadn’t heard of before. One of them is Japanese producer KIWAMU, who hadn’t actually released much before this year, but is already making waves with releases on Silk, Otographic Music and many more respected labels. He has entered the scene with mostly remixes and seems to be a follower of the Deep & Progressive style of Progressive House.
The first song I listened to by KIWAMU was his remix of Shingo Nakamura’s There for Me which is a great track itself, however I’ve come to like KIWAMU’s remix a lot more. It is a very soothing track in my opinion, and it smoothly blends a mix of progressive and deep house, as you will realise when the kicks roll in.
The second track, Masanori Yasuda — Kalos Eidos (KIWAMU Remix) is very similar to his remix of There for Me which appears to be the style he is going for, another mixture of progressive and deep house sounds. The track features consistent kicks, intermixed with slow and calming melodies as the track progresses. Structurally, it is a fairly simple song with no highs and lows, no breakdowns, just a straight beat and melody.
The third and final song I want to mention is a collaboration with Tokyo Bay Cruise, and is a remix of a track from Mango, who should be no stranger to progressive house fans. Their remix of Citylanes Airplanes feels slightly ‘happier’ compared to those previous productions, though it could still be used as background music, this one warms up your heart and fills it with hope. It could just be Mango’s influence however, as KIWAMU doesn’t seem the type to produce tracks in this vein.
